John Holmes (Val Kilmer) was a legend of the porn industry and revered in circles as a stud. But in 1981, years after his successful career and star fading, Holmes was a desperate man with his own internal demons to live up to. The true story of a group of amateurs to rob a businessman is not so honest in drugs, jewelry, weapons and money. Some say it is the tragic history of America in the eighties, when the high excess of peace and free love sixty crashed on drugs and AIDS. Honestly, this is just ordinary people with no aim in life than sit around getting high and decide to rob a man ruthless. What is the second part of his master plan? Once they have your stuff ... going to sit around and get high again. Great plan. Even if you do not know the story, no suspense in this Wonderland Crime and without surprises. The fact that Cox is trying to make a sort of folk heroes of these characters, scenes and a mounting part with the loot, is weak and insulting. The story was better with a more direct approach. As is, this is just a sad story of small time drug dealers killed by the big drug dealers. The bigger story, in more ways than one, is John Holmes. He is the center of the story anyway. This DivX film Wonderland should have been all about him, his life. It was one of the wonders with the question about to disappear. PS Although it is not official, Boogie Nights is a better version of the life of Holmes. Not entirely done, but much more pleasant.

Porn actor John Holmes (Val Kilmer, in a brave performance) on their luck in Los Angeles in 1981, establishes its own list of drugs, powerful club owner Eddie Nash, a raid on his drugs, jewelry and firearms Hollywood by his' friends', a violent group of crack-heads who live on the edge, resulting in a bloody slaughter in his apartment. Director / co-writer James Cox, of course, has the ability to be a virtuoso of movie, but this material (as charged by the police business, the nature of confessions, and flashbacks) can never be creative Cox. The edgy, jazz and editing hyped druggies in the exhibit are only intermittently capture, and work by the great acting cast is curiously uneven. Cox shows a strong sense of time and place, and pieces of this complex murder case with a lively, energetic style, but despite the murder scene is one of the most heinous in the history of Los Angeles, none of the participants as shown (including Holmes) is very interesting.
