| * SPOILER ALERT * * SPOILER ALERT * My friend and I went to see this. The film: American Psycho began and there were scenes of Manhattan, more than happy music. I thought it was something strange. Then, the film: American Psycho was Edward Norton in a bar drinking his brains out. Hey - wait a minute. Edward Norton is the American Psycho? The whole theater started howling and screaming. That had "Keep the faith" through the projector by mistake. My friend and I were to shout, "People, please! Quiet! I am trying to see the movie!" Suffice to say, the crowd was a bit agitated by the time the American Psycho film started right. I thought "American Psycho" was fun. Most people who were there did not. I think most of the public thought it was going to be a straight Slasher film. At least some semblance of a horror movie. It is not. The satire is the right word for it. Christian Bale is fantastic as the Psycho Bateman. He is a smarmy fake Wall Street who kills other people in your life. Or what? The American Psycho Comedy movie leaves ambiguous on whether Bateman really killed anyone. I assumed it was all in her head. Fantasies of murder and mayhem as Bateman keep sane as possible in counterfeiting, the back stabbing world he lived in. It's a fun movie. Just do not expect a horror movie. |
| one of the funniest, darkest satire to make the American Psycho film worth seeing on its own for a career-defining performance by Christian Bale. A American Psycho Comedy film that makes fun of each picture in a first guard of the comedy is certainly not as apparent .. come in the most fun to throw the lines that you can not hear the first time. Encapsualtes feel of the book, the game screen is an excellent selection of some of the best dialogue in the book. It is certainly not necessary to read the book before seeing this, actually if you read the book after seeing the DVD film American Psycho is increasing, surely the mark of a good adaptation. The attention to detail in the costumes / setting is also excellent, and the makeup that has been so highly praised in the business card of the scene, one of the stand-in moments of the film. Ill have to finish there again ..... .... AGH some videos ....! |
| This is a great movie! Is this really a story about the control of a serial murderer or just a story about a self-absorbed stockbroker who want unique? The American Psycho Comedy continually makes you wonder what is reality or just an illusion to the player (the victim?) Point of view. The setting is perfect, as in Bret Easton Ellis book, I was the generation of the 1980s. All the excesses (of money, drugs, women, violence) are prevalent throughout the film. Ultimately, the confusion about who is who and what we will leave you wanting to see this DivX Movie American Psycho again and again. Awesome performances by Christian Bale, Willem Defoe and Chloe Sveigny not to mention the director Mary Herron are no to be missed! 10 STARS! |
| the book was great, a great yet misunderstood satire. that was funny, violent, and terribly tedious at times, but always intense. when I heard that Oliver Stone or David Cronenberg is supposed to do work that I thought "Wow, that is going to be a big adjustment." but, unfortunately, Mary Harron took the car and crashed right into the tree. Christian Bale has given a good performance as bateman Harron but under the direction of it is too often a buffoon ridicilous instead of a serial murderer terrifying. Harron mellowed all watered down, and I'm not talking about gore here. and the scene with the chainsaw is one of the most ridiculous scenes I've seen in years. but the supporting cast (Sevigny, Dafoe, leto) were very good. all in all I say to jump! |
