| Just saw this DVD movie Stop-Loss at an advance screening and once the tension and the threat (real) of the opening scenes of battle were met and past, the Stop-Loss film grew on me as the story became one of the soldiers at home: the war and its aftermath of war that will not leave or let go. I came at a time this was quite looking like a "Deer Hunter" for the war in Iraq. There was some similar aspects, including aspects of the soldiers of the relations among themselves and with others at home, and in terms of casualties and injuries that continue to accrue well after leaving the battlefield. Stop loss is perhaps more political than the DVD movie Stop-Loss "Deer Hunter" was, by the time of its release, while issues of war in the DVD film Stop-Loss are still very much on the boil in the U.S. . I think the intention to position itself in a timely and relevant, and time will tell if it has to be maintained as a powerful and lasting war against the film. There is enough humanity, good drama and strong acting in this picture that may deserve a place in the line of memorable or important to the American war films. |
| When I saw the preview, I thought it would be an accurate picture of how to stop the loss affects the soldiers. Unfortunately, it's a bit off the wall that showed how to get Brandon stop losses. Indeed, the stop-loss occurs 90 days before deployment and remains in effect until 90 days after the soldier returns. Each unit is a year of "time" in the U.S., which means you do not deploy during that period. The film's image Brandon losses stop receiving only a week after returning from Iraq to go to Iraq again for another trip a few weeks later was the most realistic shot 100 rounds without modifying an M4 magazine once.
