| The list of known bugs in this Hunt for Red October, The film is impressive. There are two more episodes in it that are just stupid. First, the crew sings the National Anthem of the USSR under water. It is absolutely incredible because the general rule on submarines is "silence" (to reduce noise). Sing aloud is absolutely beyond question. Secondly, Sean Connery has a great beard. Again, not suitable for a submarine with a beard that would have difficulty putting on a respirator mask or a diving emergency. | After seeing this film, you'll wonder how Hollywood manages to leave so many things-action films, now they have discovered the right formula. To be fair, most action movies do not have the benefit of Tom Clancy's greatest novel (granted, 'Sum of All Fears "is a very, very close second, for me). High voltage and realistic (emphasis on that last word) representations of modern warfare to make a good story. However, there are some key qualities that should not go unnoticed to the current directors. First (again) is the basis of a good plot that really captures your attention, makes you think and puts you on the edge of your seat. Second is the high caliber of actors: James Earl Jones, Alec Baldwin (I'm a Harrison Ford fan, but I still think Baldwin was much better for the role), and - last but certainly not least - Sean Connery. I am sure that this was not cheap, but if we look at the product produced by three of the best professional actors, it's worth every penny. Thirdly, there is great music, and nothing too over the top, but well-orchestrated, and with a great set of pieces by a chorus of men in Russia (hard to go wrong!). Finally, the extensive use of special effects, from which George Lucas himself could use a hint or two that supports smooth and not take the place of or interfere with the development of the plot. This is my # 2 favorite Hunt for Red October, The Action film of all time, but you have to take my word. See for yourself! He was glad he did. |

I doubt that any other DVD movie Hunt for Red October, The comes to sub-rules (Crimson Tide comes close) and I think it will have much more than the fancy special effects in the future.
