| Just saw today. And a fascinating Kokoda War about a lost polished Kokoda patrol during the campaign. The action sequences are well constructed and beyond my expectations for a Kokoda War movie of this budget. What impressed me was the attempt to make the conflict as realistic as possible. I read about the 39th battalion and saw a documentary about the campaign, and I think the Kokoda War makers were hit near the real story. What many people do not realize is that this campaign is of similar importance to those battles as Stalingrad and D-Day invasion, although to a much smaller scale. As for the 39, only stayed about 30 men, approximately 800 by the time the campaign was over. I agree with previous comments regarding the dialogue to the extent that we sometimes have difficulty in understanding the talks. I guess it would be even more of a problem for non-Australians. However, it would have been great to see more of the great battles that took place, I do not think this really detracted from the film. We have a feeling for the conflict in the sounds of war and talks between the patrol. Some have criticized the other end, but thought it was one of the most prominent, especially because this is where we got to see most of the action. I think the director, actors and crew has done a fantastic job! 8 / 10 |
| This Australian movie: Kokoda really focused on the emotions and experiences of soldiers who fought on the Kokoda Trail was very well done. I knew little about the Kokoda Trail and although the Kokoda War movie does not go into depth about the military tactics, the experiences of the soldiers were captured and it must have been a flash-back movement of those who survived. In general, the Australian films are incredibly low budget, therefore, the DVD film Kokoda is based on the actors and the director to make an effective movie. Regardless of the budget, the Kokoda movie was incredibly well done and had quite an impact on me. When the credit began to roll and the lights came back, I could not fail to notice a veteran behind me in tears. Great movie. |
| After years of forgettable comedies, histories and unmeaning comes along something important - Kokoda. A bold, gritty, warts and all account of the harsh environment of our forest axes men were in Australia as the last line of defense against the Japanese Empire. Very well shot and presented Kokoda offers most levels and, despite budgetary restrictions, and some weak dialogue to overcome all obstacles to tell a personal account in your face adversity and the brotherhood of war , instead of a historical portrait. This film: Kokoda is not for the sensitive, has his blood, but only adds to the realism of the facts. The story is well rounded and never lost control, the results also provide a good solid ensuing 90 minutes of drama. Working with a tight budget that the cast and crew have done very well in this outing. This is the best Australian movie: Kokoda I've seen in years, without exception. I hope that we are no longer so sure, I wish there were more films like Kokoda Australia. |
