Stewart Kane, an Irishman living in the Australian town of Jindabyne, is on a fishing trip in isolated hill country with three other men when they discover the body of a murdered girl in the river. Ray Lawrence has done it again. This DVD film Jindabyne made me see the Australian landscape in a way that I have not really seen a picnic Hanging Rock. The feeling like kids from the trip is Hitchcockian, because we know we're going to see the body at some point before - just do not know when. There is a feeling of oppression and expectation superimposed on the natural beauty, which holds that transfixed. The Jindabyne Crime film can be criticized because it does not try to solve anything in the material aa level. However, Lorenzo is more interested in the internal life of his characters - all of them. Also, we want to deliver a presentation on the plate. Copies of the stories that developed slowly, makes us think about the characters that drew us to the knowledge of what they bring to their lives. I'm glad to see a Jindabyne film made for people to think, rather than spoon-feeding some of the cliches about how life can be difficult for the players. Water plays an important role throughout the film, from the river where the fishermen find the body, Lake Jindabyne, and the ghost stories about the city drowned. We are immersed in the lives of the characters, finding deeper and deeper layers of motivation as we approach the hot surface of their lives to the colder and more brittle hidden depths. We see the body in the river acts as a sort of stand-in for each character in the processing of death and rebirth of the spirit. This is another masterpiece of a master filmmaker.

Jindabyne I recently saw in Cannes and is a brilliant film. Thanks to an excellent cast and the script by Ray Lawrence comes to life on screen. Four friends of a girl found dead fish in the river. Do not report their find until a few days. This causes anger and disappointment of their families and the rest of the city, reactions do not seem able to understand. Byrne and Linney, in particular, to turn each and every second line in an intense moment. They are human beings, and it shows. You understand why his characters act like they do, but not always accepted.
