It is understandable that so many people underappreciate the DivX Movie Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace for two reasons: The first is simply the large base of fans. It is virtually impossible to please a group so large. The second reason, which could alleviate the first, is that many people fail to look at The Phantom Threat as the first chapter in the saga. The Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace Adventure movie has not only independent but also lay the foundation for other chapters. Unfortunately, many have overlooked the great creativity and ingenuity of Lucas and his team in creating this masterpiece of science fiction. Moreover, many have accused the Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace Adventure movie of the use of ethnic stereotypes. Watto is seen as a stereotypical Jewish greedy trader, while the Viceroy (who has curiously looking vaguely Catholic ceremonial attire) is seen as a tyrant, full of intrigues East WWII Hollywood an Asian accent. Then there is Jar Jar Binks with his Jamacian pigeon English and Stepin Fetchit characterization. Lucas can only tell whether some of the characters were intentionally model such stereotypes, but I doubt given the universal themes of the Star Wars saga. It is interesting to note that nobody complains when anyone, even a minority, is making a mockery of Arnold Schwarzenegger's accent, but if someone says Jackie Chan mocking her accent, it would be a scandal. I guess it's a double standard with which we live, but to depart. Pure as the movie, The Phantom Threat is a visual masterpiece. We'll have to wait until Episode III to see how well Episode I served as the first chapter. Even as a single film, however, one of the greatest science fiction epics ever. |
