This version of the classic novel set in 1872 focuses on Passepartout (Chan), a Chinese thief who steals a valuable jade Buddha and then seeks refuge in the traveling companionship of an eccentric London inventor and adventurer, Phileas Fogg (Coogan), who has taken on a bet with members of his gentlemens' club that he can make it around the world in a mere 80 days, using a variety of means of transportation, like boats, trains, balloons, elephants, etc. Along the way, Passepartout uses his amazing martial arts abilities to defend Fogg from the many dangers they face.. One major threat to their adventure is a detective that's following them. Why? Just as Fogg and Passeportout left London, a major bank was robbed, with Fogg suspected of using the 'around the world' trip as an excuse to escape.. Their path from London and back includes stops in Paris, Turkey, India, China and USA...

"Around the World in 80 Days" fortunately is not the worst DVD film Around the World in 80 Days of Jackie, who remains "Tuxedo." What makes 80 days, causing a DivX Movie Around the World in 80 Days is its lack of uniformity. The DivX Movie Around the World in 80 Days alternates between light-hearted to serious and even between different styles of comedy, Jackie's classic slapstick, that ingenious, to no avail, crude and even Python style comedy. With regard to the fight-scenes go, well choreographed and Jackie fortunately you can still kick your ass. There are some parts of the Around the World in 80 Days Romance that do not make a lot of sense and because of the massive nature of the plot that is rather long. Fortunately, the changes in the style of keeping the audience on their toes, but the climax is not very satisfactory, however. In total, around the world in 80 days is a fun Around the World in 80 Days Romance movie to watch. Has not so big and great moments and can be a little too unconventional for the fans of Jackie, but a good film, however.
If this is supposed to be a "family" film, this family does not go for it. Less than half of my daughter said: "I want to go home." So we went out and received reimbursement. Not to be offended or anything. Just boring. I am a big fan of Jackie Chan, Jules Verne's love, love crazy inventions, etc., but this Around the World in 80 Days Romance has no real comedy, the spark. Something about the timing was off. Too bad. Some children sang in the theater looked as if though. There was a lot of laughs, but not my family. We did rent The Great Race again (in my humble opinion, is far superior to any version of the world ...).
My son took me out of a DVD film Around the World in 80 Days for Father's Day. He chose this Around the World in 80 Days Romance movie ... probably not my first choice, but I like Jackie Chan. Humor fell flat on my son, who will laugh at anything, you should have just laughed half dozen times throughout the film. What a boring waste of time! The script was so bad that it was beyond the capacity of actors to do something with it. In a citation to a ship captain, played by Mark Addy, said he had been bitten by a shark and opened his jacket away from the camera to show how he had lost "two" to the sharks. Later we learned that "both" meant her nipples. The joke was so lame that the various references to his post nipples had nowhere to go.
There are some movies that bomb, which in reality is much better than the criticism makes you think, but there are others who deserve every bit of negative criticism they received. This is one of those films. It has some amusing moments, like when Jackie Chan tries to cling to the hot air balloon, as the distance flown, but those moments are few and far between. Chan has said time and again in interviews that he wishes that could be cast in the roles different from the usual action and martial arts heroes who usually plays. Unfortunately, Chan has not yet mastered the English language. It seems to struggle with every line of dialogue is delivered in this movie. The role requires him to be an action hero, but also requires more "acting" that is used to. Chan, stick with your workday. I am not very familiar with Steve Coogan, but I have seen in interviews on "Conan O'Brien", and seems a very fun. Unfortunately, none of his comic skills are put to good use in this DivX film Around the World in 80 Days lame brain. Frankly, I had fun for some of the cameos. The Arnold Schwarzenegger cameo, no doubt, it was fun. Other celebrity appearances, including Luke and Owen Wilson, Kathy Bates and Rob Schneider. Normally, I do not like giving cameo appearances, but no one doubts the reading is rushing to see this Around the World in 80 Days Romance film anyway. "Around the World in 80 Days" adds to the huge pile of trash that Disney has produced over the years, in the category of live action.
Wonderful! We just see the DVD film Around the World in 80 Days today and I laughed out loud! Not just the seven years of age, the laughter, but fourteen years old, laughed too! My husband and I laughed too. Chan was very funny, it is Coogan. There was also a series of cameos to keep you laughing. When he discovered that Schwarzenegger LAND wig! The fighting scenes were very good. Chan, as usual, offers its usual exciting mix of martial arts. Ultimately, a DivX Movie Around the World in 80 Days that will keep you entertained and you can take the kids to see! A miracle in 2004! Well worth the price of a ticket!
I was impressed by the recent Disney Remakes (Annie, Man and Music), but this is pathetic - I suggest you save your money and hire David Niven original version. At least can act Niven. Steve Coogan could have easily been replaced by a brick and no loss of the ability to act. A pretty face and a nice smile you're not an actor. Jackie Chan is stereotypical, and the fight scenes became ho-hum. There is nothing really new or whimsical about the scenes antics and attempts fell flat. Cecil did in France attempt to act and tried to make the Around the World in 80 Days movie interesting, but could not overcome the inefficient performance of Coogan and Chan. I hope for a better Around the World in 80 Days Romance film in the near future. The only fun part was Rob Schneider in San Francisco that is at times reminiscent of Michael Keaton as Beetle Jeuse. I hope Shwarzennagger Arnold (no, I can not write) can do a better job of saving that California did in saving this Around the World in 80 Days Romance - because they do not. Andy Smith
Around the World in 80 Days tells the famous story of Jules Verne ... with a twist. This time we follow the tastes of Passepartout (Jackie Chan), a Chinese man with a mission (which has something to do with the British Museum, I was not really paying attention). The Around the World in 80 Days Romance film goes sillyness, so do not expect a real adaptation of Verne's book. That said, the Around the World in 80 Days Romance film was still disappointing, there was only so-effects and felt like I was done two weeks or so. Surely, there must be other, more films for children to go to this summer, so just watch this one, if you really have nothing better to do. 4 / 10.
