| I really tried to like this movie. I've always been a fan of Steve Zahn and have been looking forward to a good feature Matthew McConaughey for a while. The DVD movie Sahara I just finally wore out. At all times the public is obliged to accept plausible events and unbelievable coincidences that border on the impossible. The river is a scene of persecution of a chain of incredible events. We are asked to accept the good fortune of good in overcoming a small fleet of vessels in their arms patterns yachts. If one of the thousands of shots on the boat had beaten the hull was sunk. For the outrageously silly end of the Sahara Comedy movie I found that actually seeing my hand covering my face. Others seem to enjoy, but it was too stupid to me. |
| What a blast! Okay, so this is not profound, socially meaningful, whiney, agenda full of claptrap (ie Sarande Susan did not call). Pity it was all fun, all spectacular, no vulgar action and excitement! God is evil? Is there something I'm missing here? No excuses to be made for this movie. The DVD movie Sahara was great, the story was fresh, the characters are fleshed out and the action was just what it should be. Everything clicked. It is very bad this does not get more attention when it was, because it is a very entertaining movie. Not just sobbing on social injustice or artificially implanted political correctness, I guess. For all the naysayers out: lighten up! This is a great movie! Even his grandmother loves, and their children. I wish I could make more! |
| This movie: Sahara contains a great mix of comedy and adventure. Can easily be called a modern Hope and Crosby "Road" picture. Yes, some of the events that occur are somewhat unbelievable, but if you put that aside and accept things at face value, the Sahara movie works. What do you want? Hollywood is make-believe. I can see Matthew McConaughey as the Bing Crosby type straight man to comedian Steve Zahn relief to Bob Hope. Every effort was made under a "patty-cake" routine to prevent the evil. Even the role of Penelope Cruz to be equated with the Dorothy Lamour type character, except that Cruz is more than eye candy. His character brings to the global movement of the plot of the image forward. I recommend this movie: Sahara to all "Camino" enthusiasts on image rather than "Spies like us" that should have been Hope and Crosby last true "path" to the image Bing Crosby died just before filming began. |
| It has been suggested by some that the only reason Eisner Jr. (Breck) was authorized to make this Sahara film was his relationship with Mr. Eisner (Michael). While there is no evidence for that argument in both directions, Breck has not proven to be much worse than other directors. In fact he did better than most and worse than some. Sahara is best described as a typically entertaining adventure in the vein of Indiana Jones or perhaps the National Treasury. Have a good tough guy (McConaughey), a fun companion (Zane) and admirable eye candy (Cruz). Now I recognize that most things are quite superficial, but if you mix all the ingredients mentioned above with a good story, good action sequences and throw in the fact that there is not a nanosecond of corniness in this film, which inevitably end up with a crowd pleasing success. 7.25 out of 10 |
| Dirk Pitt (Matthew McConauhey) is a world famous treasure hunter. His wise-cracking partner Al (Steve Zahn) have shared the excitement of finding dive for sunken treasure always. Pitt thwarts the attempted assassination of a humanitarian doctor (Penelope Cruz), who were in North Africa on a possible control of the epidemic. Olive complected, dark hair Eva Rojas (Cruz) joins Pitt and his partner take ruthless, greedy men about to pollute the world and threatens the destruction of Earth and punishment. Some very beautiful scenery and lots of action and occasional violence SAHARA makes an interesting and fun two hours of escape from the real world. I did not notice any sparks flying between McConauhey Cross reference and their relationship off screen. But then again, I am definitely not a Penelope Cruz fan. Supporting cast features: Lambert Wilson, Glyn Turmen, William H. Macy, Rainn Wilson and Delroy Lindo. Not as good as all the hype, but Sahara is a great adventure movie. |
