2001 is a story of evolution. Sometime in the distant past someone or something nudged evolution by placing a monolith here on earth (presumably elsewhere throughout the universe as well) Evolution then enabled man to reach the moon's surface where he finds yet another monolith, one which signals the monolith-placers that we have evolved that far. Now a race begins between computers (HAL) and man (Bowman) to reach the monolith-placers, the winner will achieve the next step in evolution, whatever that may be.

"2001: A Space Odyssey" (again, 1968): The playback of this DVD film 2001: A Space Odyssey is in a small flat surface (not theater) screen, and chopped to fit contemporary formats NEVER give you an idea of the visual effects sound and by 1968 received a hearing. They sat in rare and expensive theaters built exclusively for the phenomenal techniques Super Panavision and Cinemascope. This meant sitting in a seat of luxury, surrounded by a 180-degree screen that requires three projectors running and mixing 3 parts of the 2001: A Space Odyssey film in a 2001: A Space Odyssey film that literally seamlessly wrapped around his head or in the field of vision, with sound to match. Add to that the exceptional length of the "2001" (139 minutes, which was almost unknown in 1968), the special effects that really changed the world of cinema, the epic theme ( "The Man" at the beginning of the mono-Celestial Being) the fact that the audience was anticipating our first escape from Earth to another planet (just one year!), and the presentation of a metaphysical film, an American public - and success! - And you have an idea of how difficult it is to see this 2001: A Space Odyssey film without a context. However ... is a great science fiction, a great expression of his time, technological advances and script has plenty asks much of its audience - patience to brain power, and gives many scenes you will never forget that this 2001: A Space Odyssey Sci-Fi movie is not seeing the not see a clear picture of the history of cinema. Kubrick did not always master (I am not a fan of his version of "Lolita"), but when it hit, he hit BIG.
2001: A Space Odyssey is a remarkable achievement in 2001: A Space Odyssey Sci-Fi history. When he was released, it received mixed reviews, but is now considered a true classic of cinema. Words can not describe the beauty of 2001. Philosophical, wonderful, intense, impressive towers, indescribable. It is a DivX Movie 2001: A Space Odyssey experience like no other. Some of the scenes are almost divine, especially the opening scenes detailing the dawn of man, the scene where the astronauts discover the monolith, first and last thirty minutes of the film, some of which are More great scenes ever committed to celluloid, sometimes you feel frightened by what you're seeing. Overall, 2001: A Space Odyssey is probably the greatest 2001: A Space Odyssey film ever made.
